My name is Imelda and I have been in the health and fitness industry for over 30 years following a successful marathon run in 1985 that changed my life forever.
Prior to taking on my training a group of friends I from work were in a pub watching the London Marathon in 1984. After seeing so many people running for great causes who were less able bodied than us, inspired us to do the same. Six of us applied but only two of us got through, one of which was me.
I started training in the December 1984 very unfit and carrying far too much weight. My friend John at the time had run lots of marathons and assured me that he would stay with me and we trained together with our other friends. We decided to run for a great charity Anthony Nolan Bone Marow Trust and whilst they thought we were helping them to raise money, I can assure you that the people we met in need of that help, certainly and without knowing helped me. I trained hard with cross training and not only did I beome much fitter, changed my eating habits which in turn made a huge impact to my life as it exists today. I completed the marathon in 5 hours 10 minutes whilst nursing an adductor injury which meant I limped to the end from mile 18. However, I achieved and raised so much needed funds for so many people who in turn helped me.
My life changed and I trained as a Personal Trainer, Health Specialist, Sports Injury Therapist, Nutrition Advisor, Group Exercise Instructor managing and leading many teams within the fitness industry.
WHY I WANT TO HELP YOU
Health and fitness has been a huge passion of mine since my marathon run. My desire and dreams have always been to help others through changing lifestyles so people can lead good quality lives with their families and friends. Helping people improve their life quality in a world that is so fast paced, stressful and full of ill health is really important to me.
I come from a large family and they are so important for me. I unfortunatly lost my father in 2005 to a heart related condition and if I had known about it I could have helped him. It took me a long time to get over that pain and in changing my focus and energy I can hopefully help you.
